Data Deletion
Ways to request deletion
You can have your data deleted in any of these ways:
- Delete a Switchboard - an Admin can delete a Switchboard, and everything in it, from the dashboard. If it's your only Switchboard, ask us and we'll delete it for you.
- Delete your account - from Settings > Security in your dashboard. This removes your sign-in and profile. If you're the only Admin of a Switchboard, you'll be asked to add another Admin or delete that Switchboard first, so no workspace is left without an owner.
- Through Meta - if you remove Avox from your Facebook or WhatsApp Business account settings, Meta sends us a deletion request automatically and shows you a confirmation code.
- By email - write to hello@theavoxai.com from your account's email address.
What gets deleted
Deleting a Switchboard removes its WhatsApp connections, contacts with their tags and categories, conversations (including chat history synced from the WhatsApp Business app), call history, templates, Flows, automations and their credits, message forwarding settings and delivery logs, team memberships, and its webhook and health logs. Deleting your account also removes the offers and gifts made to you, and the records of your visits to our sites that are linked to your account (a browser someone else also signs in on is only unlinked from you). This is a permanent delete, not a hidden flag - once it's done, that data can't be recovered. Cancelling a plan doesn't delete anything on its own: your numbers pause and your data stays until you delete it.
What we keep, and why
We keep a record of payments (the plan, amount, currency, date, status, and PayPal reference), records of coupon and gift-code use, records of when you agreed to our Terms and policies, and our internal audit log of account and billing actions. We keep these for as long as Indian tax, accounting, and legal record-keeping rules require. Everything else tied to the deleted account or Switchboard is removed.
Requests from Meta and your confirmation code
When Meta sends us a deletion request for you, it gives you a confirmation code - a 36-character code like 3f6c2a91-8d4e-4b7a-9c15-0e2f7a6b5d43. Enter it on our deletion status page to see whether your request is received, in progress, or done. The page only shows the request's status and dates, nothing else. Our team matches each request to the account it belongs to and carries it out within 30 days, usually much sooner.
Check the status of a request
Paste your confirmation code to see where your request stands:

Requesting deletion without an Avox account
If you're a contact of an Avox customer (someone who has messaged one of our customers' WhatsApp numbers) rather than an Avox account holder yourself, email hello@theavoxai.com. We'll pass your request to the business you messaged - they control that data - and confirm once it's been actioned.
